Friends of the Shelter Trustees and Officers

Janet Hawk, Director/Trustee

janetJanet is the Friends of the Shelter’s director. She has been a volunteer with the Franklin County Dog Shelter since 2008 and a volunteer with Friends of the Shelter since 2009.  She began volunteering with the Shelter after adopting her dog, Rex, that is both a Shelter and a Friends of the Shelter alumni.  Rex was helped by Friends of the Shelter after arriving at the Shelter suffering from pneumonia.

Janet holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Business Administration from Franklin University.  She is director of market research and sales programs for an international non-profit organization serving libraries and is also a volunteer first-grade tutor at Riverside Elementary in Dublin.

Janet and her husband, Mickey, have three dogs, including one each adopted from the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Colony Cats & Dogs Rescue, and a rescued cat.

Susan Geier, Trustee

Kirsten Levisay, Treasurer/Trustee

As treasurer, Kirsten manages the Friends of the Shelter finances, tracks donations and prepares financial reports for the organization.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Miami University and a Masters in Business Administration from Washington University.  Kirsten serves as internal audit manager for a large local retailer.

She and her husband, Joe, have three rescue Labradors, one of which was adopted from the Franklin County Dog Shelter.  Kirsten, who was previously a Franklin County Dog Shelter volunteer, has been a Friends of the Shelter volunteer since 2007.

Amanda Murphy, Web & Communications Coordinator/Trustee

amandaAmanda is responsible for media and email communications, as well as updating the FOTS website. Amanda helps fellow volunteer Jay Rowsey manage our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/4thedogsFOTS and tweet the Friends’ happenings on Twitter at https://twitter.com/4thedogs_FOTS.

Amanda works for a local non-profit that works to close the digital divide by expanding broadband access throughout Ohio.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Broadcasting and Communications from Otterbein University and a Master of Marketing and Communication from Franklin University.  Amanda and her husband Chris have three rescued dogs, two of which are Franklin County Dog Shelter alumni, as well as two rescued cats.  She has been a Friends of the Shelter volunteer since 2007.

Alicia Nesline Shaw, Secretary to the Board of Trustees

Alicia, an attorney with Campbell, Hornbeck, Chilcoat & Veatch, LLC, serves as secretary to the Board of Trustees.  She has been a volunteer with our organization since 2008. Alicia and her husband Chris have two rescued dogs.
